Vietnam International Challenge: Yi Chye Ngo ousts Fikri Hadmadi in Men’s Singles first round
Singapore’s Yi Chye Ngo showed a wonderful performance in Men’s Singles first round when he defeated Indonesia’s Fikri Ihsandi Hadmadi at Ciputra Hanoi Vietnam International Challenge 2012 on Wednesday, March 28, in Vietnam.
Yi Chye defied all odds to stamp his supremacy over his Indonesian opponent in a thrilling contest that took three sets of fabulous badminton from both shuttlers.
Fikri played well but not enough to overpower his Singaporean rival and lost the match with a reasonable margin on the score board.
In the first set, Yi Chye showed his impressive performance as he played with tremendous control and got a wonderful advantage by setting up a comfortable lead.
Until the break in the first game, Yi Chye was in strong position as he took an impressive lead on the score board.
After the break, Fikri tried to play fast badminton but failed to manipulate the loopholes of his challenger and remained struggling.
On the other hand, Yi Chye did not drop his speed and remained successful in taking the opening set with a remarkable 21-11 score on the board.
In the second set, Fikri lifted up his level of play and dictated the pace of rallies from the opening points.
He was in complete control this time and did not spare any chance for his rival to get stronger throughout the second game.
Yi Chye tried to dominate the pace but failed to control the bird and lost second set with a 17-21 score on the board.
In the deciding set, Yi Chye controlled the pace by occupying the driving seat from the starting points and remained miles ahead of his rival until the end of first half.
In the meanwhile, Fikri could not maintain his speed and remained struggling far behind his Singaporean opponent.
Yi Chye was playing at his best speed and did not slow down at any stage. He faced no trouble in the deciding set and bagged it easily with an impressive margin of 21-11.
The Singaporean won this first round clash in three sets with a 21-11, 17-21 and 21-11 score on the board.
