Question:

Vietnam Mutual Fund - Invest With US Account (ie TD Ameritrade)?

I have a TD Ameritrade account so I am limited to what I can invest in. I heard that Vietnam is going to be a booming economy. I also don't have time to buy 1 company's stock. I would prefer to buy a mutual fund that invests in several Vietnam companies. Suggestions that I could purchase through my TD Ameritrade account? Thanks!

  1. Call Ameritrade's customer service. They SHOULD be able to tell you if there are any mutual funds that specialize, or at least include and what %age of the portfolio, in Viet Nam. Like the other poster said, VN is "in the tank" at the moment, but if there is a mutual fund looking at the good companies in VN, and there actually are some, now might be the time to invest! Or maybe not???

Customer service might be able to help you.

  2. Vietnam is in the tank right now.  Don't buy country-specific funds, they are not diversified enough.
