Vietnam Open Grand Prix: Sapsiree Taerattanachai ousts Belaetrix Manuputi in quarter-final battle
Thailand’s upcoming shuttler Sapsiree Taerattanachai proved her lofty skills on court as she powered her way into Women’s Singles semi-final after crushing Indonesia’s Belaetrix Manuputi in quarter-final battle at the Vietnam Open Grand Prix 2012 on Friday,
August 24, in Vietnam.
The higher ranked Sapsiree, who is the fourth seeded player in main draw of the championship, played aggressive badminton and managed to overpower her lower ranked Indonesian opponent in a convincing manner.
The fourth seeded Sapsiree played dominating badminton and remained successful in registering an inspiring victory over Belaetrix in a sensational fashion by winding up the contest in straight games in just 35 minutes.
On the other hand, the seventh seeded Belaetrix played good badminton in both games and showed a few glimpses her brilliance on court but failed to remain consistent in her positive play and lost the match to her higher ranked rival without grabbing any
set.
In the first game, both shuttlers were positive and composed and they played with remarkable precision. No one could manage a reasonable gap at the opening stage.
However, it was the higher ranked Thai player who remained successful in getting a strong position until the one-minute break.
After the mid-game interval, the in-form Sapsiree continued her positive and killing run on court as she did not drop her speed at any stage and eventually managed a reasonable lead.
The Thai shuttler was in tremendous form and she put up wonderful show at the ending points of first set and took it with a reasonable 21-18 score on the board.
In the following set, the Indonesian shuttler again played competitive badminton and she did now allow her rival to set up lead this time.
Both contestants were close on score board until the end of the opening half in second set.
After the break, Sapsiree managed to push her Indonesian opponent on back foot by playing with precision and she remained successful in finishing off the second game with a tight margin of 21-19.
The fourth seeded Thai player proved her worth by ending up the match in just 35 minutes with a decent 21-18 and 21-19 score on the board.
