  1. first of all...if u are planning to come to Vietnam as a pleasure, relaxation holiday...think again.

vietnam is very unlike other asian cities like Hong Kong, Tokyo, Seoul..etc. Vietnam is not as developed as those cities and the attitudes of the Vietnamese people can take some time to get used to.

Sellers/shop assistants are relentless and will continue to badger you to buy their things. Especially if you are non-asian. If you are not interested, immediately shake your head and walk away. Lingering will only ensure further persuasion to buy their products, and before you realise it, you might be forking out paper bills to pay for something you dont want.

Its really hot and humid in Vietnam, so best bring shorts and t-shirts. But dont bring shorts that are tooo short. Vietnamese people are rather modest..too much skin is not good. You could be mistaken for a different type of person....

If you want to experience everything Vietnamese, then take the buses that connects provinces to other provinces. These buses go real fast, are real crowded, and sometimes, a seat for two will be seated with 3 people. They dont ask to sit down, they just sit down. Vietnamese buses are ruthless.

A lot of population in Vietnam..so be prepared. Lots of mosiquitoes, so be prepared.

Heaps more advice..but that should be enough for now...

  2. LOTS OF SUNSCREEN IF YOUR SKIN IS VERY SENSITIVE TO THE SUN BECAUSE IT WILL BE VERY HOT AND SUNNY AT VIETNAM OR RAINING SO MAKE SURE TO BRING A RAINCOAT OR TWO. ALSO DON'T BRING HEAVY CLOTHING IF YOU ARE GOING TO SOUTH VIETNAM AND LOTS OF MOSQUITO SPRAY.

IF YOU ARE GOING TO NORTH OF VIETNAM, STILL BRING MOSQUITO SPRAY, BRING SOME RAIN COATS,SWEATER AND SO ON HOPE THIS IS VERY HELPFUL.

  3. when you travel to Vietnam the first thing you have to see doctor to ask  advices  and when you stay in vietnam  all water   have to boiling carefull before use and when you go shopping  you have to check the price very carefully before you buy because over there you can bargain some time the value  of item only half  of the prices, I hope you will enjoy yours trip with tropical weather and  tropical fruits

  4. Avoid dairy products! Sounds like a dumb thing to say, but after weeks of rice and noodles, you might be tempted by a pizza, or fancy an ice cream. Dairy stuff is not produced locally, nor kept properly refrigerated all along the line, so your opportunities for very bad food poisoning are good! This happened to me, and I've travelled quite a lot, and should know better!

    Stick to the local cuisine!

You will also be pestered relentlessly by people trying to entice you to their shop or market stall. Sometimes they'll start by engaging you in conversation about where you're from, etc but the constant touting will drive you nuts!

Be prepared to see poverty and disability (particularly as a relic from the war) that you may find distressing.

Viet Nam is a really, really beautiful country. Get out of the cities and into the countryside and it's just incredible. And everyone is very friendly.

Carry a small flashlight! Power cuts happen, and if you're out on the street you'll be plunged into a darkness you'd never have thought possible (yes, this also happened to me!)

    Enjoy!
