When I went to a Vietnamese restaurant, their menu was intimidating. I didn't know what to get except for the obvious pho. Can someone help me out on some good dishes to get a vietnamese place?

  1. You could choose spring rolls, bun' bo`-beef (it's a kind of noodle like pho), banh' xeo` (xeo` cake-for dessert), etc.,... Go to traditional restaurants. Or you could choose random dishes, to try lots of new stuff. They're not too spicy or oily. Enjoy ;D

  2. Rolls?

  3. bo kho is a beef stew that is one of my favorites.  another is the bun dishes, rice vermicelli with whatever items (pork, beef, eggrolls, whatever) and a sauce that gets poured over.  bo luc lac, is basically cubes of steak...really good too.

  4. Bun thit nuong- rice noodles, lettuce, mint, cilantro, peanuts, and grilled beef, pork, or shrimp with a sweet and sour fish sauce.

Bun Cha Hanoi-fresh rice noodles served on the side with fresh vegetables and a bowl of grilled pork in the most tasty sauce ever.

Bun Bo Hue-this is like pho but alot spicier. It's cooked with thicker, rounder noodles and a different cut of beef. You can ask for it less spicy if you want

Com suong nuon- this is rice with a grilled marinated pork chop served with pickles(daikon and carrot) and fish sauce.

Ca chin-a fried whole fish, usually cod or tilapia

    yummy have fun trying them!

  5. You can't go wrong with bun: grilled meat over rice noodles, lettuce, bean sprouts, cucumber, and fresh herbs with nuoc cham and pickled spring onions on the side.

It's very simple, light and delicious,... it's my go-to dish when I take friends to my favorite place that have never eaten Vietnamese food.

Summer rolls are also great if you like shrimp.
