My computer won't recognise when I have put a cd/dvd disk into my cdRom- it wont read it and the green light on my base unit goes off when I've inserted the disk...any help please!? Is it something I can fix on the computer or is it a physical problem in the base unit?

Thanks in advance

  1. if your computer is showing that cd/dvd rom in mycomputer

it means cd/dvd rom is connected and detected

some times cd/dvd rom need some cleaning from inside

you can use any cd cleaner to clean the cd/dvd rom lens

( cd cleaner is a cd itself with a small bursh on it )

if you find the same problem again it means your cd rom has gone

so you need to replace it

  2. THIS PROBLEM HAPPENS TO ME ALSO WHEN BURNING ON MY LAPTOP THEM READING ON MY DESTOP IT NOT DETECT AND IT FROZEN MY DESTOP

UNFORTUNATLY THIS IS BEACAUSE OF VISTA OS IS WHEN ESPECIALLY BURN ON WINDOWS APP...

THIS NOT HAPPENS ON XP.... JUST TRY TO READ THEN ON XP COMPUTER... IF NOT THEN MAYBE YOUR CD IS CORRUPTED BY THE APP WHERE YOU BURNED THE CD.... GOOD LUCK

  3. Use a disk cleaner first. If that don't work, reinstall the drivers/software for it if you have it. You can right click on "my computer" and select "manage". Go to "device manager" and uninstall the drive. Reboot and it'll reinstall. If nada, open up your case and just plug the drive cables and plug them all back in. Make sure you unplug the power supply and touch the power supply to rid yourself of static electricity.
