Does anyone know if the Partial lunar eclipse that's happening this coming Saturday will be visible from southern California, and at what time(PST)? All of the reports I read about it say the view will be best from Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe, etc...., but no mention of how the U.S. viewing is, if any. Thanks so much!!

  1. Hi CA!

Saturday's eclipse happens between 12:36 p.m. and 1:44 p.m. Pacific Daylight Time.  That's broad daylight, of course, and since lunar eclipses happen at full moon, which can only be seen at night, California cannot see the moon during the hours of the lunar eclipse.

This one will only be a partial lunar eclipse, even on continents where the eclipse can be seen.  The next total eclipse of the moon that you, or anyone, can see is the night of December 20-21, 2010.
