I'm stationed in Japan, and when I go online on base almost every page I view is in Japanese, making service registrations, etc. impossible. Is there something I can do to make everything show up in English. My computer's region is set to United States. Thank you.

  1. Use Rikaichan. It'll allow you to mouse over any kanji that is on the page and it will tell you the meaning.

EDIT: I'm not sure how much this would help you either but look carefully for a flag (which can sometimes be used to change the language like in Youtube) or for English (英語) to change the language to English.

  2. Using online translator is the only thing you can do.

    http://www.freetranslation.com/

  3. Many websites look at the IP address you're connecting from and display in the language of the country where that IP address belongs. Most of these websites allow you to change the display language, but you usually need to have cookies enabled.

For example, on Google, there's a link on the top page that says "Google.com in English," and clicking that changes the page to English. On Facebook, there's a popup menu to the right of "Facebook © 2008" at the bottom of the page that lets you change the display language.

I think this is the issue you're having. If you cookies get deleted every time you quit your browser or shut down your computer, you'll have to change the website's language every time.

  4. i almost have the same pproblembut i dont live on base and usually at the top or bottom or somewhere on the page you can change it to english
