  1. It is a real phenomenon! It exists.

  2. I think its an issue...one thing I think is funny is that al gore made a comment that there are more harmfull gases being produced now by factories than at any other time in history...well no S**t...not sure but I dont think there was factories back in the 16 and 1700's

  3. You won't notice much change in the weather, but it'll mess up our agricultural output, so food costs could go way up.

The biggest issue may be that the outlook for water supplies is not promising.  In the Colorado River Basin the major reservoirs may become drawn down to the point of being unusable as soon as 2021.  That's an issue for people from Wyoming to New Mexico to California.

Steven Chu, a Nobel laureate and the director of the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, one of the United States government’s pre-eminent research facilities, remarked that diminished supplies of fresh water might prove a far more serious problem than slowly rising seas.

Chu noted that even the most optimistic climate models for the second half of this century suggest that 30 to 70 percent of the snowpack will disappear. “There’s a two-thirds chance there will be a disaster,” Chu said, “and that’s in the best scenario.”

  4. I think the earth is warming at about 1 degree C every 100 years on average. It has been for hundreds of years. It may be effected by man made CO2 and could be going up faster, and may go higher than it would naturally. At this point, I don't think we have a firm answer to just how much affect man has on it. There are some very good and interesting theories on how much, but little proof.

  5. It's a very controversial issue.  Some feel that it is part of a cyclic process that Earth goes through and others feel it is due to an increase in an effect that we call the greenhouse effect.  It is important to note that the greenhouse effect is a good thing, to a certain extent.  If it wasn't for the greenhouse effect it would be a couple hundred degrees below zero every night.  At the same time it was concluded by Carl Sagan that the only way the planet Venus could be as hot as it is is through the greenhouse effect.

  6. So Sad. I just watched 6 degrees warmer on NAT GEO. It was so sad. Last night I had a dream that Global warming began to drastically and simultaneously effect the molten rock and tectonic plates and there were all these predicted volcanic eruptions and therewere newscasters at the sights and they were dying to film the eruptions. All of the eruptions took place and there was major chaos. How come they dont talk about warming the molten rock? Is that just a little too scary amidst the daily gloom and doom hum-drum? I plan to look into it and bring my findings to yahoo.

  7. I dislike the term, "Global Warming".  It's accurate, but tends to mislead the more simple minded people into thinking that there will be increased temperatures the world over.  I prefer to call it climate change, because while global warming is the main driving force, the symptom is climate change.  It can be from more arid and temperate to drier and cooler, or whatever.

One way to stop your impacts on global warming, stop buying products from China and MacDonalds.  That will honestly lessen your impact.

  8. Sure it is happening, but not because of us. It has happened in the past and will happen in the future.

  9. A natural occurrence based on general heating up of the sun about every 100,000 years.  The cause of ice ages.

  10. Whatever you call it almost everyone agrees the environment has been and is being harmed by human activites. The harm is more involved than CO2 and should be fixed. The harm  can be reversed by using good engineering but it seems the current efforts are only going to make the problem worse. There is nithing being done to eliminate bad systems and good engineering if used could do this. Nothing is being done to increase energy supplies and good engineering could fix that too. Running around yelling the world is warming and we got to stop using oil is pointless and silly because good engineering could fix that too. Oil is not the problem polution is the problem. Good engineering could fix that problem too.
