How will people cope for the high cost of Electric and Gas, plus all food prices soaring up .People on limited incomes will not have the money to meet these high prices, and all those on the Pension will be hit the most. Also this week it was announced that Water is to raise its prices.

  1. My friends and I were talking about the very same thing earlier tonight. The main problem is that prices are not just going up by a few pence but by as much as 50%, and we don't know why this should be. Everyone is jumping on the band waggon and it's a complete rip off. We can't do much about Electric, Gas and Water prices but I think it would be a good idea if we all shopped at one store only for food and boycotted the others as a protest.

  2. I think the companies are taking advantage of a bad situation.  Yes, fuel prices do have to go up a bit but the fat cats should also lose alot of their bonuses as well.  The water companies are taking the pi*s!  They are not fixing leaks which lose alot of the water which should be going to people.  We certainly do not have a water shortage at the moment and we seem to be paying more for our water than countries which have to use reverse osmosis to get enough water for their people.

I will be cutting down on electric and gas as much as possible and luckily I have an open fireplace so will be burning logs and, although not environmentally friendly, will have to burn coal as well.  For the rest, I will have to pay what I can and they can chase me for the rest.  Not an ideal situation but I can see than many others are going to have to do the same - especially those up north who have much colder weather than us southerners.

I can also see a winter where we start eating stodgier food - there is a reason why the British have a stodgy diet in the winter - to keep us warm! lots more soup, stews etc.  We have loads of fruit trees in the garden and the neighbouring gardens which are not used so I can see lots of scrumping, jam and stewed fruit making this year!
