Vijay Mallya: I am proud of what we have achieved in 2011 season – Formula 1 news
Force India team boss Vijay Mallya has said that he is proud of what they have achieved throughout the 2011 Formula 1 season so far.
Mallya added that he thinks 2011 has been the team’s most complete season yet in their Formula 1 career.
He also mentioned that they have developed a car that has been strong in all areas of the ongoing season and that they have given some of the bigger teams a run for their money.
The Force India team made much progress during the races throughout the season. They delivered several new updates to their VJM04 car race-by-race in order to get better results at the end of the championship.
However, the team boss stated that if they can secure their sixth position in championship at the upcoming Brazil race weekend, it will be a good achievement of the team in history.
Talking to reporters, Mallya commented, “I think 2011 has been our most complete season yet. If we can secure sixth in the championship this weekend, it will be a key milestone in the history of this team because the competitiveness of the Formula One grid
is as intense as I can remember.”
He went on to mention, “I still remember what happened last year when we missed out on sixth place by just one point. We certainly head to Brazil in a very strong position, but I've learned that you should never take anything for granted.”
Mallya further added that they are aiming to have Brazil Grand Prix in the decent manner. In addition, he stated that they have learned that nobody should ever take anything for granted.
The Silverstone-based outfit is placed at the sixth position ahead of Sauber with 57 points in the 2011 constructors’ standings at the moment.
Both of the drivers Adrian Sutil and Paul di Resta tried their best to put the team at the positive note throughout the 2011 F1 season.
Both of them are targeting to finish the season on a high note for the team.
The last round of 2011 championship will take place on November 27, at the Sao Paulo racetrack.
Let’s see how they manage the last race of the season at Brazil this weekend.
