Vijay Mallya: I am very happy with Force India’s performance in the last few races – Formula 1 news
Force India-Mercedes boss Vijay Mallya has said that he is very happy with his team’s performance in the 2011 Formula 1 season since the last few races.
Mallya also mentioned that the team has qualified in the top ten positions in the last couple of races of the ongoing season which was really satisfactory and encouraging for him. In addition, he stated that he is delighted with his team’s position at the
moment.
Talking to reporters, Mallya said, “Development work through the season is obviously paying off. The car is getting better and more competitive and easier to drive. The drivers are highly motivated and clearly they are putting in their very best. In Germany
it was Adrian, and in Hungary, Paul.”
The team boss added that they had a below par start to the 2011 Formula 1 season, as both of their drivers Adrian Sutil and Paul di Resta were busy and developed understanding with the different and new features of their cars in the initial races of the
ongoing season. He said they started to make improvements in terms of performance from the Monaco Grand Prix and in the European race, the team driver Sutil impressed his viewers by finishing his race in the top ten positions.
Mallya further stated that his 2011 car was quick on the grid in the Hungarian Grand Prix last weekend, as the team driver di Resta was quick and finished his race at the 7th place in Budapest.
He added, “It was an absolutely fantastic moment to see the car in pole position in 2009 and Giancarlo Fisichella on the podium. But that car could only go very fast in a straight line, and pretty much didn't do very much else! Now it's doing everything
that's asked of it, irrespective of the track.”
The Force India team is at the seventh place with 26 points in the 2011 Formula 1 constructors’ championship behind the Sauber team at the moment.
Let’s see how both of the drivers manage their race in the remainder of the ongoing season after coming back from the August break.
