Vijay Mallya: We are pushing hard to maximise the strategies – Formula 1 news
Force India team principal, Vijay Mallya has said that they are making the best of the efforts to take the full advantage of their resources in order to score points in the 2012 Spanish Grand Prix which is to be held at Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona
on May 13.
“As well as developments for the car we are pushing hard to maximise the strategies and the drivers are delivering excellent performances in the races,” said Mallya.
He also said that there has been a very close fight amongst all the rivals in the first four races while he said that they can achieve more points in the next race if they keep on performing well.
“That's so important this year with the margins between the teams so tight. If we can continue to deliver like we did in Bahrain then we should be able to remain in the hunt for points this weekend,” he said.
Furthermore, he said that they have made the essential evaluations regarding the new updates in their car in the in-season test held at Mugello circuit during the last week which will surely help in improving its pace in the upcoming European season.
Nevertheless, he said that they have to keep in mind that most of the contenders will be coming well prepared for the next race. Therefore, they have to judge their performance as compared to others.
“However, we have to remember that most teams will make a development step for Barcelona so it remains to be seen how this will impact on our relative performance,” he added.
Force India team is currently standing at 8th position in the constructors’ championship with 17 points. Moreover, they have emerged as quite a strong contender in the midfield as they secured 6th place finish during the preceding season with 69 points ahead
of Sauber-Ferrari.
In addition, their driver, Paul di Resta has performed quite convincingly in the season until now as he has scored 15 points and is presently at 10th place in the drivers’ rankings.
Contrarily, Di Resta’s teammate, Nico Rosberg is struggling with his pace as he has only been able to score 2 points in the season so far. Nevertheless, the team is hopeful that they will be able to pocket some reasonable points in the approaching races.
