Vijay Mallya believes Force India will do best in last five rounds of 2011 season – Formula 1 news
Force India principal Vijay Mallya has said that he is sure both of the drivers will do their best in the last five rounds of the 2011 Formula 1 season following the successful Singapore Grand Prix.
Mallya added that he is feeling very proud after getting better results from both of their drivers Paul di Resta and Adrian Sutil in the recently held Singapore race weekend.
The Silverstone-based outfit is looking forward to beat Formula 1 Lotus-Renault team in the 2011 championship battle, as they believe they can do it.
Mallya talked to the media and commented, “I have often been asked in Spa/Monza, 'oh this is a track that suits your car so you should do well', and I said,' look, if we want to be anywhere in the constructors' championship and score points then we need
to build a car that is capable of racing and being competitive everywhere'.”
He added, “Before Monza I said we had to get ahead of Sauber and secure P6 in the constructors' championship. It is not that we have no development or facilities, but it is just the sheer commitment, and creative thinking and passion that our guys have that
really deserves credit.”
The team principal discussed the 2011 Singapore race weekend and mentioned that they have proved at the Marina Bay Street Circuit that they are still competitive on the grid and can fight with their rivals. Force India are quite happy to score a fantastic
sixth in Singapore.
The team received impressive results from their driver di Resta in Singapore. After starting his Grand Prix from the 10th position on the opening grid, he claimed sixth place for them in the end.
His teammate Sutil came at the eighth position on the final race classifications in Singapore.
After getting the positive results from the Singapore race weekend, Force India are aiming to beat Renault in the title fight. Mallya stated that they want to fight for their fifth position in the constructors’ championship until the end of the season.
Let’s see how both of the drivers di Resta and Sutil manage the last five rounds of the season following their better results in Singapore.
