Vijay Mallya confident for its team points – Formula 1 update
Force India's team boss, Vijay Mallya, has said that after the strong start in the ongoing season, he is confident for his team's points during the upcoming races of 2011 season.
He also mentioned that after first three races of the season, held in Melbourne, Sepang and China, it can be expected from both the drivers that they can make more supportive points at every race of the remaining season.
The Force India had a disappointing winter testing session, as it’s both drivers, which included Adrian Sutil and Paul di Resta failed to completely learn the new features of ‘VJM04’ car.
Despite this, the team started its 2011 season with hopes of getting supportive points. However, they completed their Australian race successfully on the grid and got three points in the end of the course.
The team took part in Malaysia race, where its driver, Resta, managed to get single point for the team. While, his team-mate Sutil was unable to gather his best run among the strong rivals, due to some technical issue in his car.
In recent Chinese Grand Prix, both the drivers finished successfully both their Friday free practice and qualifying round on the circuit, but the race did not prove lucky for the team, as they could not get any single point for the team.
The Force India team admitted that both the drivers tried their level best to complete their best run, but due to the low pace during the race, they could not put their impressive run ahead of the strong competitors.
Mallya said that his team’s overall performance in this season was good, so the team should be pleased due to its current condition in the sport.
He added, "To have points on the board and a car that is capable of qualifying in the top 10 means we are well placed to build on our competitiveness as we begin the European season.”
He went on to say, "I'm very proud of both our drivers, too. Paul has driven superbly and has adapted very quickly to Formula 1. Combined with Adrian's speed and experience, I see no reason why we cannot challenge for points at every race this year."
Despite of China race results, Mallya said that his car still has much potential to compete with the other strong teams. He further added that they have made some promising aerodynamic upgrades in the pipeline, which should make a significant difference
to the performance of the car in the coming races.
Due to its positive performance in the start of the season, Force India team has considered, as the stronger team in Formula 1. The next race of 2011 season will take place in Turkey, on May 8, 2011.
