Vijay Mallya confirms an investment worth £50 million for Force India – Formula 1 news
Force India’s team principal, Vijay Mallya, has confirmed an investment of £50 million for the team so as to improve its performance.
“We had a board meeting in India after the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix and the board has approved a £50 million capital investment programme for the team,” he explained. “We are going to invest heavily in new technology and give more tools to our design team to
try and move further up the grid. Looking back at the season so far, we have every reason to feel proud. We've scored more points than in any previous season and every year we've demonstrated that we've gone up the ladder.”
Mallya added that the team is very proud of the results which they have achieved this season. He told that the team has improved from last season as they have scored more points than last year when Force India had finished sixth with 69 points. He insisted
that the team has improved with each year and their steps have not been even small but rather significant. He pointed out their improved performance is also more highlighted by the fact that the team has been using technology of the Jordon era which is not
that modern.
He has also appreciated the team driver, Nico Hulkenberg, for bringing forth good driving in the current season as he has scored 53 of the team’s points so far. Since Hulkenberg is leaving the team to join Sauber next year, Mallya has said that the driver
has a good future in the sport and for that he wishes him good luck.
Mallya has been the centre of some negative speculation this year regarding his Kingfisher Airlines. The employees had been protesting against him as the company failed to pay their wages for several months. The issue had created much hype before the Indian
GP.
The team currently stands at seventh place with 99 points on the constructors’ grid and has been aiming at overtaking team Sauber for the sixth place. As far as the driver line up for next season is concerned, the team has decided to follow their tradition
of announcing it at the end of the season.
