Vijay Mallya feels pleased with Force India consistency – Formula 1 news
Force India team principal, Vijay Mallya has said that he is feeling very much pleased with his team’s level of consistency in the 2012 Formula 1 season so far.
The Silverstone based team has performed reasonably well in the season until now and surely deserves to be called as one of the most competitive mid-field contenders in this championship. Their driver, Nico Hulkenberg secured an impressive sixth place finish
in the Korean Grand Prix and managed to score some crucial points for his team. Conversely, his teammate, Paul di Resta couldn’t score even a single point in the previous race.
Even though, Mallya asserted that he is a little bit upset over the result of Di Resta in the last race but he expressed that he is very delighted with the overall performance of his team until now.
“The only frustration is that we have not always managed to get two cars in the points and that has hurt us in the Championship. But in terms of outright performance, I think we can be pleased with our level of consistency,” he said.
In addition, he said that although they have not been able to secure any podium finish in the season so far but they have still scored points with consistency which has been the factor of their success in this year’s championship fight.
“We've had at least one car in the top ten of qualifying in over 80% of the races and scored points in 75% of the races. While we may not have finished on the podium this year, it is our consistency that has been key to our success and kept us in the fight,”
he added.
Additionally, he said that they are still targeting to beat their main opponent, Sauber in this season’s constructors’ championship and are planning to come up with some significant advancement in their car so as to attain promising results in the remaining
four races.
At present, they are standing at 7th place in the constructors’ standings and are 27 points behind the Swiss team. Let’s see how they perform in this weekend’s race in India.
