Vijay Mallya not willing to talk about 2012 drivers’ line-up of Force India – Formula 1 news
Force India’s team principal has recently stated that he is not willing to talk about his drivers’ line-up for the 2012 Formula 1 season.
The team has already announced that they will reveal their final decision after the 2011 Formula 1 season comes to an end.
“I have told them, please don't bother me about driver choices right now. We will focus on getting a good position in the Constructors' and we will talk about everything else later,” he told Autosport.
Both of the team’s drivers are doing a fantastic job as the team is currently in 6th place in the constructors’ standings ahead of teams like Sauber and Toro Rosso. This means that they are doing a much better job than most of the
mid-running teams of the sport despite the fact that Force India itself is a relatively new team on the grid.
While talking about di Resta, Mallya stated that he would not let go of him as he is already a star and that the team is proud of the rookie’s performance in his debut season in the sport. He has already secured 20 points in the 2011 Formula 1 season.
“We have full confidence in him, and that is why he is in the race seat. We always thought he was very talented. We had him as our third driver last year, and said we were going to put him in the race seat. Since then he is doing me proud,” said the team
principal.
Nevertheless, Adrian Sutil is also doing a fine job but there are rumours that he might leave the team as he is interested in a deal with Williams according to some recent reports.
Sutil is the team’s leading driver currently and he has been scoring some pretty good points consistently throughout the season which is the main reason why the team is performing extremely well statistically.
With just 5 races left in the season, Mallya wants his team to maintain its lead over the rest of the lower mid-running teams of the sport in order to finish the 2011 Formula 1 season on a strong note.
