Vijay Singh aims to get back old times – Honda Classic
Star Fijian golfer Vijay Singh is aiming to make his return at the golf course with the beginning of Honda Classic. Above all, he is desperate to reinstate his winning streak.
With a mind boggling start of his career, comprising three major event victories and 34 PGA victories, his performance began to slump due to injuries that affected his game persistently.
Talking to media about his return he said, "I want to win again. I think I have a few more wins in me and I want to contend again like I used to".
He added, "I feel stronger now than I did five or six years ago and I am hitting the ball as long as I have ever done. I just need to start playing properly again. I want to win, and I want to win really bad".
At the age of 49, many thought that he would initiate his senior career. However, he is still looking forward to establishing his mark in the regular tour.
It is also important to mention here that although regarded as one of the best golfers, Singh has not been able to claim even a single win since 2008.
According to experts, his injuries have played an extremely vital role in the constant deterioration of his performance. This was further hampered by his right knee surgery that he experienced in 2009.
Returning to the golf course in 2010, the golfer began complaining about his back problems, thus, failing once again to make any significant addition to his portfolio.
Furthermore, all these injuries have severely affected his key areas. These include his capability to swing freely for which he is famous for.
Nevertheless, Singh is hoping to sideline all those haunting memories. Since the beginning of 2012, Singh has made three cuts on the PGA Tour he is taking part in. According to him, he is slowly regaining his form.
He further added that he is feeling healthy and strong. Also, he is looking forward to unveiling his other and completely different side to the audience with the kicking off of Honda Classic.
The event, which will feature some of the best in golf, will provide Singh the perfect opportunity to yet again showcase his skills.
