Vijay Singh on top after two days of the U.S PGA Championship
Two days have passed of the 2012 U.S PGA Championship. The best in the world of golf have gathered at the Kiawah Island Golf Resort, the Ocean Course, to go head to head for the Championship. The event teed off on the 9th of August and is supposed
to end on the 12th of August.
Players from all over the world have tried their level best to impress the fans. Some of them succeeded while others failed. The list of players who had two impressive rounds also includes Vijay Singh.
During the first round of the tournament, Singh carded two birdies on the front nine. He started the back nine with a bogey on the tenth hole, which was followed by another birdie.
He carded a double bogey on the seventeenth hole and then ended a day with a birdie. These made his score one-under par after the first day.
Singh had a slow start to the tournament and was not able to play convincing golf on the first day but he managed to turn his game around on the second day. He got a bit aggressive and things started to go his way.
On the second day of the tournament, Singh carded three birdies on the front nine. On the back nine, he carded two more birdies on thirteenth and sixteenth hole but he also scored two bogeys.
These made his score three-under par for the day and his total score climbed up to four under par. Singh is currently on top of the table with Tiger Woods and Carl Pettersson.
In an interview he said, “After a while, you don't really think about your score. You just think about each hole, each shot and just try not to mess up. It was one of my better rounds. I didn't strike the ball as good, but I scored really, really well. And
I think that was the key”.
“If you had a golf course like this and you asked me to go and play golf in windy conditions, I'd say, `No, I'm not going to play.' I guess nobody is going to go out and play in conditions like this. But it's a major, and we have to go out there and just
struggle and manage yourself the best you can,” he added.
