After getting comprehensively beaten 45-7 at the hands of division rivals and Super Bowl champions Green Bay Packers the Vikings Coach Leslie Frazier delivered another bombshell that cornerback Antoine Winfield is set to miss out
the rest of the season as he suffered a broken collar bone.
Winfield was already out since October 2nd as he had suffered a neck injury during the Vikings 22-17 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in week 4 of the National Football League.
The cornerback had just made his comeback against the Packers today after a four game layoff making five tackles during the game and a sack got the injury during the match and will not make an appearance for the Vikings this season.
Vikings fans will be devastated by the news as on top of the pounding their team received at the hands of the Packers their best Cornerback is also out for the season and with secondary Cornerback Chris Cook suspended from the
team as he faces felony charges of domestic assault on his girlfriend the Vikings have a big hole to fill in their squad.
Winfield was drafted by the Buffalo Bills in 1999 in the first round. The 180 pound Cornerback spent five NFL seasons with the Bills before joining the Minnesota Vikings in 2004 where he has developed a reputation of a fierce tackler
and overall physical play.
Antoine who signed a new five year contract with the Vikings in 2009 worth $36 million has been a mainstay at the back for Vikings teams although his current problems with injury and the fact that he will be 35 years of age when
he returns to the field will most likely mean the end of his Vikings career.
Winfield has currently 174 career National Football League appearances to his name making a total of 948 tackles and five career touchdowns.
Minnesota Vikings will look to get back to winning ways against the Oakland Raiders who visit the Mall of America Field this Sunday and improve their poor 2-7 record as they remain bottom of the National Football Conference North
Division in fourth.
