Vikings upset at CB Chris Cook getting paid for not playing – NFL News
The Minnesota Vikings dressing room according to sources has become deeply upset with the way the franchise is operating.
According to reports the Vikings dressing room is up in arms over the franchise’s handling of cornerback Chris Cook. Cook was arrested in October for the accusation of strangling his girlfriend. The cornerback was released from
bail on a $ 40,000 bail bond and is not allowed to leave the Minnesota state limits.
The Vikings first suspended the player for four weeks for his actions but later back tracked and gave Cook a paid leave of absence. The decision is completely opposite to what Frazier did to players who made relatively minor offenses.
The Coach released offensive tackle Bryant McKinnie for not being in shape and wide receiver Bernard Berrian for being indifferent during games.
Cook however, has broken team discipline and brought a bad reputation to the franchise with his actions and the decision to retain the corner back and give him full pay for not playing has led to anger in the dressing room.
Frazier has defended the decision to retain Cook and said that the matter was discussed thoroughly to decide what was in the best interests of the franchise.
"There was a lot of discussion prior to making that decision," Frazier said on Monday. "A lot of discussion. We went through all the what-ifs and all the possibilities, and once that decision was made, that's the decision that
was made. We decided to go in that direction."
The Vikings must win at least one of their final two games to prevent themselves going down as the worst team in the franchise’s history. Coach Frazier will have to motivate his players to step up a process made difficult by the
fact that Vikings are paying a offender for not playing while his teammates are losing week in and week out.
The Vikings are 2-12 this season and are on route to become the worst team in the franchise’s history. Coach Leslie Frazier who took over from Brett Childress after a 6-10 season now manages a squad that is low on morale and suffering
from injuries across the roster.
At the start of the season the Vikings were touted to become contenders for the playoffs but poor performances and continued distractions due to dressing room dramas have left the team in poor shape.
“I know the guys that are on our roster are fighting and playing as hard as they can, but we have been coming up short, throughout the year. We are not where I thought we would be. There is no doubt about that, I did not think
we would be at 2-12 after week 14.” Frazier said.
