Vikram Banerjee signs Gloucestershire deal
Vikram Banerjee has signed a new one-year deal at Gloucestershire, which will keep him at the county for the 2011 season.
The left arm spinner signed for the county back in 2007 after playing only a single game in Surrey's second eleven. Gloucestershire has wasted no time in tying down one of the best spinners in the domestic
game.
"I am delighted to have signed for another year with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Gloucestershire-c785 and I am looking forward to the challenges of next season. I want to win games for the team and help us win trophies and promotion,"
said Banerjee.
Banerjee has many qualities that should see him do well throughout next season. The club may have to offer the 26-year-old an even longer deal to keep him on after next season if he's successful.
A quality spinner
Banerjee is a very popular and light-hearted individual. It's important news for the club because he can have a positive effect on the team at a time when the likes of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Anthony-Ireland-c1065 have
left for other counties.
Variation is very important to a spinner's game and this is something Banerjee uses very well. He has the ability to mix up his pace with very little change in his action. This makes it impossible for
the batsman to premeditate the pace of the ball.
Banerjee is a very fit player who will bowl all day long in one day of a four-day game is he is given the chance. He bowls more balls and has more chances to take wickets. It's important the club gives
him everything he asks for next season.
"Our tactics this summer were primarily formed around our pace attack, but Vikram showed on occasions that he can be a match-winner in his own right. Given that some of our seam bowlers have moved on,
he will play a more important role next season and becomes one of our more senior players," added director of cricket John Bracewell.
Betting advice
Banerjee can be very effective in division two of the county championship. Back him to be one of the top five wicket takers in the country next season.
