Viktor Axelsen tames Yan Kit Chan in Men’s Singles first round at Hong Kong Open 2012
Denmark’s young and impressive player Viktor Axelsen started his run in a confident fashion as he played positive badminton in Men’s Singles first round and defeated his local rival Yan Kit Chan at the Yonex Sunrise Hong Kong Open 2012 on Wednesday, November
21, in Hong Kong.
The in-form Axelsen, who has been positioned at number 26 in Men’s Singles world ranking, put up stunning show of attacking badminton and remained successful in winning Yan Kit in a dominating manner in just 32 minutes.
Danish shuttler showed a great performance despite having the crowd against him as he did not lose his focus at any stage in the arena and remained successful in crushing his local challenger in straight sets with a convincing margin.
On the other hand, Yan Kit failed to live up to expectations of his home crowd as he played quivering badminton when it mattered most and crashed out without showing a considerable performance in the arena.
In the first game, the lofty Axelsen showed a phenomenal performance in the arena as he played with commanding control from initial points.
However, the local shuttler also put up staggering show in the arena and remained successful in staying close to his Danish rival until the one-minute break in the first game.
In the concluding half of opening game, Yan Kit lost his focus as he started to commit errors which helped his challenger to control the pace of rallies.
The lofty Axelsen continued executing powerful smashes in targeted areas and managed to stay ahead all the way to end up the game with a 21-18 score on the board.
In the following set, both shuttler showed a wonderful performance in the opening set and again remained close on the board until the mid-game break.
However, the incredible Axelsen took over the control from his rival after the break by playing attacking and positive badminton and eventually took the second game with a decent margin of 21-15.
