Viktor Polyakov brawls for USBO middleweight title against Derrick Findley - Boxing News
Viktor Polyakov, the Ukrainian surging pugilist, will take on American Derrick Findley in a 10-round bout with United States Boxing Organisation (USBO) middleweight title up for the grabs on March 16, 2012.
The bout will co-headline the pay-per-view setup by Dominic Pesoli of 8 count productions and the ring for the Friday night event will be extended at UIC Pavilion situated in Chicago, Illinois, United States.
Viktor, 30, has been in a total 10 bouts and came out victorious in all. He has collected six of his wins by knockout and is seriously outclassed by Derrick’s experience. This will be Viktor’s first ever title bout.
Derrick, on the other hand, has been in a total 25 bouts. The 27-year-old young brawler has collected 18 wins and 11 of them by knocking the opponent out. Also known as the ‘Superman’, Derrick has fought many title bouts but was able to wear just one gold
round his waist that is USA Indiana State middleweight title.
The young Indiana lad is currently facing a tough time since he has lost four of his last five bouts and two of them were title bouts. A keen look at Findley’s resume shows that he has been unsuccessful in capturing a huge win that could have attracted media’s
attention.
Viktor will enter the ring with a two-prong strategy that is defend the streak and win the USBO gold. Polyakov is being dubbed by most as the favourite since he has various factors in his favour such as an invincible win streak; higher win ratio, a bit greater
height and others.
Viktor who will enter in his career’s milestone event praised his opponent and said, “I know Findley pretty well, having seen him fight a few times. But I’m confident of victory on March 16th, whether by knockout or decision. At first it was a scheduled
six rounder but with it being for the USBO title, I’ve amped up my training for the fight.”
While sharing his sparring methodology Viktor said, “I’ve had very intense sparring sessions the last few weeks against Donovan George, Henry Coyle and Andrzej Fonfara.”
Pesoli, promoter Viktor, also uttered optimistic words regarding his man and said that he did stay away from the ring from 2008 to 2011 but this has not demoralised Viktor in any way. Dominic added that Viktor has now become a far better and more skilled
pugilist and will definitely put up a great show against Derrick.
The special edition will be headlined by the 10-round bout between Andrzej Fonfara and Byron Mitchell and will be for the USBO light heavyweight title.
