Viktor Troicki defeats Tobias Kamke to clear the second round – French Open 2011
World number 15, Viktor Troicki of Serbia, continued his impressive run at Roland Garros, defeating the 76th ranked Tobias Kamke of Germany in the second round on Thursday. The Serbian had least trouble in disposing
of the German opponent in straight sets 6-2, 6-2, 7-6(4), taking two hours and seven minutes of play to book a spot in the third round of the Grand Slam event.
25-year-old Troicki didn’t need to work hard to accomplish victory and cruised through the contest with ease. A part from the third set, which was extended to a tie breaker, the Serb dominated the contest completely to register
his 23rd victory of the current ATP (Association of Tennis Professionals) season. Troicki wrapped up the opening two sets in about one hour, completely devastating Kamke, but had to work his way through the third set to seal victory.
Kamke was put under pressure from the very first minute, as Troicki adopted an aggressive approach from the beginning. The German appeared in no sorts of form in the first two sets of the competition but posed some resistance in
the third one, which appeared too late for him to make his way back in the game.
The Serb delivered 63 percent of his serve on target and won 43 out of 57 points on it to come out as the winner in the end. He crafted 19 break opportunities in the match and cashed in seven out of them en route to victory. Troicki
was greatly assisted by Kamke in his victory, as the German spilled out 50 unforced errors, which included six double faults in the contest to bestow victory over his opponent.
Troicki fired twelve cracking aces in the game and his serve was broken just three out of five times by the German competitor. The Serb stung three serve breaks to clinch the opener and then replicated the similar feat to nab the
second set as well, with identical scores of 6-2.
Kamke finally showed some signs of life in the third set and kept the score board ticking on event terms before a tie breaker was enforced at 6-6. Troicki proved his superiority over the German to seal victory at 7-6(4), advancing
to the third round of the French Open.
He will take on the 21st seed Ukrainian, Alexandr Dolgopolov. The Ukrainian defeated Andreas Haider-Maurer of Austria in the second round clash.
