The Czech Republic U-21 International’s good performances did not go unnoticed, as the Eredivisie outfit reached an agreement with the gloves man on a three-year contract. However, the shot-stopper failed to clear the medical at De Vijverberg Stadion.
Leen Looyen, the Super Farmers technical director, expressed his frustration while talking to the media.
“This is a great disappointment for both Tomas Vaclik and for us. We inserted a lot of energy in finalising the deal and in the end we came to know that he is a keeper of the level that is not feasible for us”, Looyen said.
The technical director did not reveal the reason behind the 22-year-old’s rejection. Reports indicate that the highly-rated goalkeeper, who recently excelled in the U-21 European championship held in Denmark, underwent a knee operation earlier in his career.
“It is true that Vaclik has kept everything last season, but I cannot answer the question why he was rejected. I can say that we could not have taken any risk due to the price tag hanging over Vaclik”, Looyen concluded.
