Even though Barcelona were able to win 3-2 against Spartak Moscow in their first UEFA Champions League fixture, Tito Vilanova is unhappy with his team’s display.
Barcelona are currently the favourites to not only win the Spanish La Liga, but also the UEFA Champions League.
Despite losing one of the best coach in their history, Barcelona are still the favourites to accomplish in both these elite competitions which they are a part of.
Therefore, a come-from-behind victory over Spartak Moscow is not something which Tito Vilanova is proud of and he believes that his side was not able to perform up to the standards.
As http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 faced Spartak Moscow in their opening Champions League fixture, everyone expected the Catalan giants to thrash their opponents.
However, Unai Emery’s men were able to surprise La Blaugrana.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Cristian-c9491 Tello gave Barcelona the lead, but Moscow were able to score two goals and took the lead during the second half.
The Spanish giants found it hard, but they were finally able to break the defence in the 72nd minute, as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lionel-Messi-c22296 scored the equalizer.
Soon, the Argentinean maestro was able to score the winning goal as well, as he managed to complete a brace before the final whistle was blown.
Even though Barcelona won the game, Tito Vilanova stated that he is unhappy with the result.
While speaking about the game against Spartak Moscow, Vilanova said:
“I was unhappy but it’s not easy when a team puts everyone behind the ball. We knew they would look to hit us with speed on the counter-attack.”
“It happened to us here against Rubin Kazan. It’s was tough and we must be satisfied with what we have.”
“We will have more rhythm to our play as we get further into the season.”
Barcelona have picked up all three points in their first group stage game against Moscow, and now they will return their focus on La Liga where they will be facing Granada, a team which has not been in the best of form recently.
La Blaugrana are currently sitting at the top of the Spanish La Liga table with a perfect record, winning all their four fixtures in the league.
