The most exciting match of the La Liga’s weekend fixtures saw Barcelona host Atletico Madrid for a mouth-watering match.
The match was seen as a highly anticipated encounter as Barcelona were topping the league’s table and Los Rojiblancos were placed 2nd in the standings, ahead of the match day.
Barcelona held a 6 point lead over Atletico and were looking to extend their lead to a massive 9 points over their nearest chasers, should they manage to take out maximum points from the match.
The Catalans also had an 11 point lead over fellow title chasers and arch rivals Real Madrid.
Real Madrid were playing hosts to Espanyol in the corresponding fixture.
Barcelona managed to prove once again why they were considered as the masters of living up to the biggest occasion as they humbled Atletico 4-1 to send the home side’s fans in to raptures.

Barcelona manager Tito Vilanova was extremely happy with the outcome of the game but rubbished claims that the league title was already won.
"In my first year [2008-09] we were 12 points back and we had to go to the Bernabeu and play for the title. Now, there’s a team that’s only nine points behind us.”
"I don’t think that this title is ours to lose. If there is a team that has the capacity to win a lot of points, and they overtake us, then they deserve the title. It happened in 2009 and it could happen again.”
"La Liga is not easy, and it certainly isn’t boring."
Real Madrid were forced to play a 2-2 draw with Espanyol, as the away side netted in a late equaliser to silence the Santiago Bernabeu faithful.
