The Catalan tactician has voiced his opinion regarding the former Gunner’s problem at the Nou Camp and suggested that he should be blamed if the midfielder does not shine.

The Spaniard argued that it is too early in the season to jump to any conclusions, while maintaining that managers should be blamed if a player fails
to perform at his best.
Vilanova continued the discussion by adding that there is no doubt that Fabregas is among one of the best players around and asserted that he expects the technically gifted athlete to have a great season.
"He's a world-class player who would get into any team in the world. At Barça, it just happens he has to compete with players who have been the best in the world in recent years in their positions", the manager told Marca.
"I don't agree that Cesc has not been playing well. The coaches must also be held responsible. If I can't get the best out of him, you can't just blame the player - I must be to blame too", he added.

Consequently, Cesc voiced his concerns recently and stated that he was not in favour of remaining benched for a greater part of the season. As a result, the media exaggerated the issue and made sure that the matter was aggravated.
However, Vilanova has shared his side of the story and has maintained that in the presence of better players, it is not natural for someone else to be given the same amount of playing time.
