It was a sad day for football yesterday as Barcelona manager Tito Vilanova suffered a relapse of the disease that had kept him out of football duties at almost the same time, last year.
12 months ago, the then Barcelona assistant manager was reported to have encountered a cancerous growth in his parotid gland and the malignant growth was removed via a surgery.
Last evening, the Barcelona board confirmed the rumour of Tito Vilanova encountering the same problem again after a lot of talk had surfaced in the Catalan city, bearing the ill news.
Today, the Spanish giant’s officials have confirmed that their manager has undergone the required surgery and that all went well and according to the plans in the medical treatment.
The Blaugrana coach underwent the surgery on Thursday morning and was given all the medical therapy and treatment that was required.
The 44 year old has now successfully gone over the initial process and the Catalan club have stated that they cannot give any estimate as to how much longer their head coach will be out of his managerial duties.

The currently ill Barca manager has done a terrific job since arriving and he has led his Catalan team to the summit of the La Liga table.
Barcelona have done brilliantly so far in the league and are currently holding a 9 point lead over their nearest chasers Atletico Madrid and also hold a 13 point advantage over arch rivals Real Madrid.
