Question:

Villa fans! Is it just me or does transfer deadline day seem a bit quiet to you?

Man City fans I am well jealous! New billionaires, Berbatov, Villa, Gomez and Robinho-All in a days work!!!

O'Neill has said he will work right up to the deadline and he could bring in as many as 3 players in before the end of the window-two of which he wants to be strikers. But is has just gone 9:00 and I have heard literally NOTHING!!! nothing accept for a quoteless report saying that Joey Barton was coming in! And another one saying we are in a 4-way battle for Heskey with Spurs, Celtic and Newcastle-Not exactly what I had in mind!

With 3 hours to go it would seem very unlikely we will get in a Dean Ashton or someone of his calibre but do you think we will get anyone? I woke up today and the players we were reportedly looking at were Ashton, Doyle, Luyindula and Miguel but like I say I can't realistically see anything like this happening-Unless if Martin is keeping his cards very close to his chest to the extent none of the press have heard a peep!

I don't think we actually need 2 strikers! Just 1 will do us and possibly another midfielder and if I was being very pushy, maybe another full-back.

Does anyone think we may sign someone?

Thanks

  1. Try being an arsenal fan. We could do with one or two more players but we won't know what Wenger wants until he finalizes it. Wenger won't give away anything until he knows a player is definitely at the club. Martin O'neil is doing the same as Wenger and most of the managers in the EPL. Managers don't want all their transfer targets broadcasted about through the media on the last night of the transfer window when other competitors are also looking for talent. I like it just the way it is because who knows who's going to end up at your club.

  2. i am not worried about manchester city as they are just embarrasing themselves. there is no way that they are going to get the likes of david villa, gomez, robinho etc. they fail to realise that they are not a big club.

As a massive villa fan im also not worried about villa being quiet. martin oneil has already brought in quality players such as milner and freidel. he has strengthened all the positions he need to already (GK, LB, CB, RB, CM, RM). We shouldnt need another sriker when you look at the amount of goals we scored last season. He might sign one more player on the deadline day but if he doesnt i wouldnt worry.

  3. Try being an Everton fan and then you will know what quiet is .

  4. I'm a Villa boy, and the only thing that concerns me is the rumour that Barton is on his way to Villa. Surely not!!!

  5. I think it's horrible news for Villa if those rumours are true! Barton? I'd scream in frustration if I supported Villa! And why buy two more strikers when there's such a good thing going with the Ashley Young-John Carew-Gabriel Agbonlahor formation? Villa are really strong all over the field and only a really big buy would benefit them...there's no point in signing players like Barton and Heskey because they wouldn't improve the team!

  6. I'm afraid you are in the same boat as Arsenal

  7. Why don't you make a late bid for Alan Smith?  We'll let you have him on a buy one, get one free basis and we'll throw in Ameobi for nowt!
