unable to overturn the four-goal deficit from the first leg; the Dragons had defeated La Liga outfit 5-1 at the Estadio do Dragao on Thursday, April 28.
Juan Carlos Garrido was pleased with his side’s efforts in the second leg of the semi-final, but he admitted that the Portuguese Liga giants were the better team over two legs. Moreover, Garrido appreciated the Dragons and revealed that they deserved their
place in the final.
Garrido said in the post-match press conference, “They [Porto] won and they deserved it. I congratulate Porto, who have done a great job in winning this round. We fought with all we could.”
The Spanish trainer also appreciated the home crowd who supported them until the last moment. “We played a good game and appeared to be doing well with the fans. Today [Thursday] I saw the fans believe in the team. I appreciate the fans' support of the team.”
He said.
