Villarreal's http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/AZ-c38571 Alkmaar – Dutch Eredivisie news
Reports from Alkmaar confirm that Jozy Altidore has agreed to sign a contract with Eredivisie side AZ Alkmaar, as the Eredivisie club look to replace Kolbeinn Sigthorsson who recently joined Dutch giants, Ajax Amsterdam.
Since making his move from Major League Soccer outfit, New York Red Bulls, to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Villarreal-CF-c40899 in the 2008/09 season, the 21-year-old has played in three different countries. The US International now seems to be on the move once again with Netherlands to be
his most likely destination.
According to sources, details regarding the move are yet to be disclosed. The youngster is expected to make an official announcement later today. The 21-year-old is currently under contract at La Liga side Villarreal, where he failed to command a regular
starting spot largely due to the scintillating Nilmar-Giuseppe Rossi partnership upfront.
The well-built striker spent most part of the last two seasons on loan. In the 2009/2010 season, Altidore was farmed out twice, to Xerez and Hull City respectively. The youngster then spent the second half of the 2010/2011 campaign on loan at Turkish Super
Lig side http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Bursaspor-c38700 where he made 12 appearances, but his goalscoring abilities deserted him at Bursa Ataturk Stadium.
Altidore rose to prominence during the 2009 Confederations Cup in South Africa when he helped US reach the final, where they eventually lost to Brazil. The 21-year-old recently led his National side’s attacking third in the Gold Cup, but was ruled out of
the competition after sustaining a hamstring injury in the quarter-final win against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jamaica-c2927.
Since joining the Yellow Submarine in the summer of 2008, the US ace has failed to show the form that made him one of the brightest prospects to have come out of the MLS.
A move to the Eredivisie might resurrect the career that promised so much, yet failed to deliver.
