Garrido stated that the Madrid giants were the deserved winners as they played some sensational football. He also praised http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ronaldo-c31734 on reaching 50 goals for the season and rued missed opportunities by his team.
The manager insisted that two of the three goals were scored on free-kicks which highlight the side’s inability to deal with set piece situations.
“We played against a great team and the way the goals were scored show that. Of the three goals we conceded, two were scored from free-kicks by a player who handles those kind of situations perfectly,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
The Spaniard revealed that his side played better football after the interval and looked to make it 2-2 with the attacking display. But a goal by Ronaldo in dying moments of the match proved the quality of the player and took the game away from the hosts.
He also hoped for his team to get a result at Osasuna next week to end the season on a high.
“However, in the second-half we played well and competed against them. For much of the second period, we played like we deserved to get a 2-2 draw, but the third goal late in the match reflects the difference between the two teams in the match,” the tactician
concluded.
Villarreal will definitely finish fourth on the Spanish La Liga table and have qualified for next season’s UEFA Champions League. The Yellow Submarine have had a good season as they had also reached the semi-finals of the UEFA Europa League, eventually losing
