The Yellow Submarine supremo shared that they have to remain prudent after facing the ignominy of relegation to the Segunda Division after qualifying for UEFA Champions League the previous year.
Villarreal fans can testify that a year in football is very long. The Yellow Submarine were due to play in UEFA Champions League this time last year but are consigned to duel it out in Spanish topflight football’s second tier.
El Madrigal-based club’s demotion to the Segunda Division has seen a host of stars abandon the serene surroundings for pastures new. The Valencian outfit have a financial crisis on their hands and have been forced to get rid of their top stars to make ends
meet.
Villarreal president http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fernando-c13609 Roig took out time to reflect on the club’s strategy in the coming campaign. He summarised that they have to look for an "economic balance" to entertain the ambitions of a prosperous future, explain that it has been the main
reason for selling first team stars in the ongoing summer transfer window.
Roig shared that the Yellow Submarine fans have to be happy with the economic management of the club, as they do not have the headache of worrying about creditors. He clarifies that they do not have debts on them and have paid the Spanish treasury what they
owe them.
Continuing on the topic, he added that the club is in healthy financial conditions, which is a good omen when considering their long term future.
"We are looking for economic balance and we are getting there. We have paid everything up to date and do not owe money to anyone," Roig said while responding to questions in a press conference.
"We have paid out to the Treasury and as I said, this is a healthy club, which for me is very important for the future.”
"In football we are at that point and it is therefore key to have the economic balance. It is essential to have that balance and Villarreal will have it.”
The 2012 summer transfer window has seen http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Bruno-Soriano-c8158 also linked with moves away. Roig shared that the Spanish midfielder is a key player in Villarreal’s plans
for the future and will not be allowed to leave.
"Having http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Bruno-c8098 at Villarreal means we can rest assured that we can 100 per cent return to the Primera.”
"The players are outstanding and are eager for recruits and signings, but some must first leave and after that we can enter [the transfer market].”
