Villarreal striker, Giuseppe Rossi, has expressed his desire to join Barcelona in the ongoing summer transfer season.
After completing a successful season for Yellow Submarine, having netted an impressive 32 goals in the season ended, Rossi believes a transfer to Nou Camp will be a dream come true.
However, his interest has not yet triggered the Catalan giants, as reports suggest that the Champions League winners have still not made contact with Villarreal over Rossi’s desired transfer move to Camp Nou.
Having signed a new deal with Villarreal in January to extend his stay at El Madrigal by 2016, Rossi has been heavily rumoured to cut short his stay and could be on his way out of El Madrigal this summer.
Reports indicate that Tottenham Hotspur, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567 Milan and Juventus have also shown interest in the in-form striker and desperately want to get his signature for the 2011/12 season. During his four-year spell at El Madrigal, Rossi has played over 175 matches
for the Spanish club.
Rossi’s representative, Federico Pastorello, has gone on to state that his client wants only Camp Nou to be his next destination. He confirmed the news that they have been contacted by many European clubs to know the availability of the Italian striker.
“It would be a dream for him to play for a team like Barca. There is nothing concrete at the moment, and it would be great if there were some kind of sign on Barca's behalf." His dream is to certainly wear the Barcelona shirt, as that represents a winning
model.”
Reports suggest that Villarreal are desperate and keen to hold-on to their most prized asset, but their chances of retaining Rossi received a huge dent when Rossi’s agent revealed that they could reach an agreement with Barcelona.
“A week before the Champions League final we were told that Rossi was one of three players who they [Barcelona] were thinking about in order to strengthen the side. With an official negotiation, I believe we could reach an agreement.” The agent was quoted
as saying.
Villarreal’s efforts to keep hold of Rossi hardly come as a surprise, as his blistering strikers helped Villarreal book a place in the next season’s UEFA Champions League. Villarreal finished fourth on the Spanish Primera Liga table and Rossi’s 18 league
goals had a huge role to play in that.
