The 42-year-old insisted that Rossi’s departure would leave a massive void in the team’s line-up but told that the Yellow Submarine are already prepared with an alternative. Garrido hailed the striker saying that the Italian has been a revelation ever since
he joined the club and hoped that he would prolong his stay at El Madrigal.
The Club’s Vice President, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fernando-c13609 Roig Nogueroles, had earlier stated that Rossi would not be going anywhere at least until the end of the 2011/12 season. He had revealed that the striker is not up for sale this summer and no bid would be entertained by
the officials.
But the manager and the Vice-President differed in their opinions regarding the transfer of 24-year-old. The player, on the other hand, admitted about Barcelona’s interest and also wished to play under the leadership of Josep Guardiola. The Italian clearly
wishes to leave the club, but only after having helped the Yellow Submarine qualify for next year’s UEFA Champions League.
The Yellow Submarine manager added, "If we get an offer that is good for Villarreal then it will be accepted and we will thank the player for all his efforts. From there, we will hire players who make Villarreal even bigger. If he does leave then we will
replace him with the necessary players. Rossi has played many games and scored many goals and so we have to prepare for possible sales."
Rossi has made 127 League appearances for Villarreal since joining the club in 2007 from Manchester United. The striker has 51 goals under his belt thus far. He also has made 21 appearances for the Italian national side, bagging five goals in process.
