Villarreal’s Juan Carlos Garrido disappointed at his team’s loss to FC Porto- UEFA Europa League news
Villarreal’s coach Juan http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Carlos-Garrido-c8443 has expressed his disappointment over his team’s humiliating loss to the Portuguese outfit FC Porto. He was talking after the Yellow Submarine slumped to a 5-1 defeat in the first leg of their UEFA Europa League semi-final.
The encounter took place on Thursday, April 28 at the Estadio do Dragao.
Garrido was extremely furious at his team’s display especially in the second half where they let in no less than five goals. This sluggish display virtually diminished all hopes of Villarreal to feature in the final of the competition which is to be held
in Dublin.
Both the players and fans found it hard to swallow this heavy defeat in the semi-finals but were really optimistic to say that nothing can be put to conclusion once the final whistle is blown. It meant that the fans were still hopeful of watching their side
contesting in the finals of the competition.
The 42-year-old praised the quality, which Porto put on display and also accused his team of wasting a number of chances which could have changed the outcome in terms of score line.
Garrido added, "It's a big defeat and hard to take. We're not happy and have to analyse where we went wrong to emerge strong. We deserved more than one goal, and had three clear chances. The key was when it went 1-1 rather than 2-0 to us, this boosted the
belief of Porto and their skills brought our mistakes."
The coach confirmed that the Yellow Submarine would go all out against Porto in the second leg but to score four goals against a quality outfit is a gigantic task for an already depleted unit. Villarreal’s striker Nilmar also agreed with the words of his
coach and told that there is everything possible in the game of football and we will fight till the last drop of our blood as there is nothing to lose.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Nilmar-c28044 further added, "Everything is possible in football, but it's going to be a hard task. We played great in the first half and then everything changed in the second, it's difficult to see what went wrong."
Villarreal will now host http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Porto-c39186 on Thursday, May 5 to contest the second leg of their Europa League semi-final tie.
