Villarreal's Juan Carlos Garrido jubilant after securing the semi-final berth - UEFA Europa League news
Villarreal’s coach, Juan http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Carlos-Garrido-c8443, expressed his delight after making it to the last-four of the UEFA Europa League after beating the Dutch Eredivisie side, FC Twente, 8-2 on aggregate. The La Liga side confirmed their semi-final berth of the competition
after beating http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Twente-c39233 by a 3-1 margin in the second leg of the tie, played on Thursday, the 14 April.
Garrido was jubilant at achieving this feat and was all at praise for his team which worked really hard in order keep their silverware hopes alive. He further added that, “I am very happy because we have taken a huge step,” enthused Garrido, according to
Villarreal’s official website. “It is time for us to celebrate because we have reached the semi-finals after great work throughout the tie.”
He praised the efforts of his young team and was delighted to see them rising with every game. He mentioned that it is heartening to see these players giving their all at a very young age and he hoped that the Yellow Submarines could maintain the same level
of concentration in the upcoming games.
The 42-year-old claimed that the team has been performing well overall and it is just a matter of time when this young brigade would be regarded amongst the best teams in Europe. He also stressed upon the importance of the upcoming games and urged his team
to work hard in order to go one step ahead from the last season and qualify for the UEFA Champions League.
He added that, “We played big games in the last three days [at the weekend they lost 5-0 to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Valencia-c40863 in La Liga] and I think that overall we are doing very well. We have still have important distance to cover and we have to maintain serenity. We face an
intense season finale and the team is showing that it is maturing. Now, every game is the most important game of the season and it remains for us to finish our job with humility.”
Villarreal are currently fourth in the La Liga standings with 54 points and the Yellow Submarines are going to take on http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Porto-c39186 in the first leg of the Europa League
semi-finals on Thursday, the 28 April.
