Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas insists that football fans have the right to voice their displeasure and criticise managers if they see fit.

Rafael Benitez had never been a popular figure at the London club, and his appointment shocked and angered many fans. It seems like it will take some time for Chelsea supporters to warm up to the former Liverpool boss.

Villas-Boas himself has had to face a fair share of criticism from Tottenham fans, especially after Spurs failed to win their home games towards the start of the season. However, the Portuguese believes the fans are entitled to their opinions and have every
right to be critical. Speaking to reporters, he said:
“The fans have the right to everything in my opinion. They are the ones who breathe the biggest passion for the football club. They are entitled to whatever they want to say or chant; disappointment, belief, encouragement, positiveness.”
“It is all down to them, football is about them, it is about their passions. They have the right more than anybody to show that. As a manager, you have to take it. Sometimes we don’t like what we hear but that’s life.”
