Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas hopes that the 2-3 win over Manchester United is just the start of things to come from the club this season.
The manager, who has led his team to three successive Premier League wins, was delighted after his team secured a historic win at Old Trafford this past Saturday against the former English champions.
Goals from summer signing http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gareth-Bale-c14422 had given the visitors the lead, with Clint Dempsey scoring the winner that sealed all three points for the club.
The last time Tottenham won at Old Trafford was back in 1989, which is why this victory holds so much significance for the manager and the club. Having started their season poorly, Tottenham have now managed a series of wins that has placed them at the fifth
spot.
This will come as a relief to the manager, fans and the players, who had to endure a torrid start to the campaign. The team had been booed off the pitch by the home fans on two occasions. Tottenham had failed to win their first two games at home, throwing
away leads in the last minutes to West Brom and Norwich City.
However, having led his team to a string of wins, Villas-Boas has now challenged his players to maintain their domestic momentum by getting wins against Aston Villa and Chelsea, the club that he managed for 6 months last season.
A victory against Chelsea will be a personal triumph for the Portuguese manager, who has a point to prove to his former employers.
Speaking to the club’s official website, he said:
“It doesn’t stop here. The emotions we were living (after the United win) are very inspiring and results are also good to build confidence.”
"That confidence is good for us as we approach our next couple of games. We have two games at home now, and we have to improve our home form to make sure that this becomes a sequence for us."
Tottenham will travel to Athens this Thursday to play their Europa League group fixture against Panathinaikos. This will be followed by the two games in the Premier League against Aston Villa and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 respectively.
