There were nervy moments in the game as Tottenham looked to defend their lead. The team had failed to hold on to their lead on two occasions at home in the past weeks against West Brom and Norwich City.
This time around however, and much to the relief of Villas-Boas, Tottenham held on and sealed all three points. The Portuguese tactician admitted to feeling the anxiety and pressure when QPR had scored in the first half.
"You could almost feel the anxiety in the stadium when we went 1-0 down in the first half," he told reporters.
"QPR dominated in the first half and we needed to be more aggressive and play with more desire.”
"The players understood that and really put on a show in the second half. It was so important for everyone and we fought hard to get this result."
Tottenham will take on Carlisle United in the league cup on Wednesday and then travel to Old Trafford to play Manchester United for the Premier League. The game will be Villas-Boas’ first major test of the season.
