Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas has backed Paul Lambert after the 0-4 victory over Aston Villa, and insists that the Scot remains the perfect man for the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Job-c18684 at Villa Park.
Aston Villa have now conceded 12 goals in 2 games, conceding 8 against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 at Stamford Bridge last week and then letting in 4 against Tottenham at home on Boxing Day.
This puts immense pressure on http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Paul-c29347 Lambert, who was appointed as Villa boss during the summer after departing from Carrow Road.
The last two results would suggest major problems at the Midlands club, and raised question marks about their defence. Villa are currently 16th on the league table, and are only three points adrift of the relegation zone. This certainly paints
a worrying picture for the club, who showed promise earlier with their performance in the Capital One Cup and their league victories over http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 and Norwich City.
Lambert has primarily relied on a young team, and had seen promise from them when they went on a six game unbeaten run across all competitions. However, all their work has come undone after the last two heavy defeats, and diverts focus away from their earlier
form.
Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas has shown concern for his managerial counterpart, and insists that Villa must stick with him if they are to progress further and climb up the league table.
The Portuguese backed the manager for success at Villa and said:
“There were a different team at the beginning. When Paul changed the structure to five at the back the results improved for them and they managed to get some important ones. I think for them now it is important to find stability defensively, looking at what
has happened.”
“I think Paul is the right person. He is developing a very young team, and it has nothing to do with the teams of the past. So hopefully, by him being given time to do that, Villa can achieve the results they want.”
It was good to see the Villa fans singing their managers names even after the 0-4 thumping against Tottenham, and provides proof that the manager is liked among the club’s faithful and remains a popular figure.
