Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas has backed Brendan Rodgers to return Liverpool to the top, and believes the Irishman is the best man for the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Job-c18684.
The 35-year old believes that Liverpool will progress under Rodgers, and will eventually make their way back to the top of the Premier League.
Brendan Rodgers was appointed as manager following a successful period in charge of Swansea City during which he helped the team reach the English top flight.
Tottenham host the Merseyside outfit in tonight’s round of Premier League action. Tottenham are currently 7th in the league, with 20 points while Liverpool lie in 11th place with 16 points. A win for either team will significantly boost
their position on the league table.
This is the first season at their respective clubs for both managers, who arrived in the summers to take on new projects. The Portuguese is not taking Liverpool lightly, but will go into the game knowing that win will take Spurs into the top four. With Liverpool
on an 8-game unbeaten run, Villas-Boas knows that he faces a tough task.
However, Villas-Boas was quick to praise Brendan Rodgers for his work with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809, and believes that the club should stick with him if they want to develop and progress. Speaking to reporters, he said:
“At the moment, Liverpool are on a good run in terms of form. They would want ideally to turn the draws into wins. In a couple of games they were very close to winning but they didn’t get the results that they wanted.”
“They are in an awkward position in the league at the moment but the distance between the teams in the middle of the table is not a lot so it can change dramatically for them and they can join the top ten very soon.”
Villas-Boas and Rodgers are former colleagues and worked together as part of the managerial staff at http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 back when Jose Mourinho managed the Blues. The Portuguese admitted that he has followed Rodger’s career ever since, and is impressed by how far the
Irishman has come. He added:
"Rodgers has a bright future, and deserves to be where he is."
