Tottenham Hotspur’s manager and former Chelsea boss, Andre Villas-Boas has gone on to slam the Blues, as he has stated that only teams with style tend to succeed.
The manager went on to make these comments just days before the Spurs and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 are set to face off against each other, in a game, which will surely help decide what teams will end the season in the top four.
Villas-Boas will be returning to the Stamford Bridge, but as opposed to wanting the best for Chelsea, he will now be looking to get some revenge on his former club. The manager is determined to prove that it was a mistake for the club to let him go, and
there is no better way of doing this, rather than beating Chelsea in their own home.
Having been sacked after just nine months at Chelsea, the manager went on to join Tottenham. However, his departure saw the Blues go on and win the Champions League. He feels that, that win was just a one off, and that the team was not going to go on and
amount to anything.
“In the end, it’s brought them success and sometimes success is what matters in football – independent of the style”
“I have a different opinion [to them]. I think if you don’t have a style, it makes you invisible in football. Only teams with style succeed. But in the end, success normally is what matters in modern Europe.”
However he went on to admit that during Jose Mourinho’s era, the team was on fire and they seemed to be on the verge of achieving greatness. He went on to admit that the younger players in the team have the potential of doing this once again, but it is going
to be a wait to see just how far they can go.
“[They were] an absolutely deadly machine of football [under Mourinho] – but in a different way. Great, great counter-attacking football,” he added.
“And one of the great teams in the country. There are various types of teams; teams built along great creative players and this Chelsea team has the ingredients to be able to play this type of football.”
