Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas is delighted with his team’s run of 4 consecutive victories in the Premier League.
The Portuguese is delighted with his team’s current form as his side cruised to a 2-0 victory against Aston Villa last night.
Defender Steven Caulker opened the scoring for the club as a http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jermain-Defoe-c18359 strike deflected off him and went towards the goal.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Aaron-Lennon-c3062 scored the second goal of the night through some individual brilliance and a neat finish. Tottenham had looked defensively weak at some points, but were the better of the two teams as they dominated proceedings and played some of their best
football this season.
Villas-Boas’ appointment in the summer was met with considerable doubt and scepticism. Many were shocked when former boss Harry Redknapp was sacked by chairman http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 after half a
season.
The critics mounted further pressure on the club and the manager as Tottenham failed to win any of their opening three games.
However, Villas-Boas has finally silenced his doubters as he led Tottenham to a streak of 4 wins in the league, and 7 games without a defeat in all competitions.
The manager has had a history of proving his critics wrong, as was evident in his successful spell with Porto. Villas-Boas led Porto to a quadruple, despite many calling him an inexperienced and young manager.
This time, Villas-Boas is targeting success with Tottenham, and has promised to deliver silverware as he looks to end the club’s trophy drought. He never had doubts about the team, and insists that it was only a matter of time once Spurs finally kick started
their season.
"I have never doubted my abilities, I always trusted them," Villas-Boas said.
"It's funny how things change so dramatically. The Premier League is completely unpredictable. We started the season (badly). We are now fifth from the top.”
"You have to perform at this level. This is the early stages in the Premier League."
Tottenham have an important game coming up next week against Chelsea at home. Villas-Boas will be looking to further prove his worth as he eyes a victory over his former employers.
