Villas-Boas was delighted by his team’s performance after such a difficult run in the league. The team had also not fared well in the Europa League last week and therefore a result and three points were much needed. Speaking to reporters, Villas-Boas said:
“We’ve been waiting for a good solid 90-minute performance and we got it today. It was extremely important for us to get back to winning ways, particularly in a London derby. We don’t jump too far in the table but it was an important result.”
The manager then praised captain http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michael-Dawson-c25288, who made his first start in the league after a series of injury troubles. He added:
“Dawson hasn’t been playing as much as he wanted because the competition is extremely difficult. He had great commitment and desire for the club. Today we felt we should start him because it was a game that suited his qualities.”
