Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas insists that he is under no form of pressure at the club as he expressed his delight at the 1-3 win against Reading yesterday.
The Portuguese boss was delighted with his team’s performance at the Madejski Stadium and was also pleased by striker Jermain Defoe’s match winning performance.
The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 international scored a brace as he helped his side to their first victory of the season. Defoe, who had previously been linked with a move away from White Hart Lane signed a new two-year contract earlier in the summer, and showed just why he
was selected in the starting 11 ahead of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Emmanuel-Adebayor-c12526.
The striker was impressive all afternoon as he tormented the Reading back four with his pace, tenacity and trickery. Defoe scored his first in the 18th minute and followed it with his second in the last minutes of the game.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gareth-Bale-c14422 had also gotten his name on the score sheet, but it was Defoe who stole the show. Villas-Boas was delighted with the striker’s performance and looked relieved to have won his first three points as Spurs manager.
There had been speculation regarding the manager’s time at White Hart Lane, with many reports suggesting that he would have only three games to save his job.
However, Spurs’ performance relieved all pressure and silenced the doubters for now. When asked if he felt pressure at his http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Job-c18684, he replied:
“No. Not at all. I am extremely happy because the players put tremendous commitment into the game, [as well as] responsibility and concentration. They understood that we've been working so hard and they deserved to get this first win.”

"The way they came into the game with that focus and wanting to put things in their place is very pleasing to see."
The manager was full of praise for Defoe and added:
"Jermain deserves to be in this position because of what he has been doing in training, obviously when we started the season Adebayor wasn't with us.”
Tottenham’s next match will take place on Thursday night against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lazio-c39775 in the Europa League. Villas-Boas is no stranger to the competition, having won it with Porto in his time there. The Portuguese is looking forward to leading Tottenham to European glory
this season, and believes their win against Reading is just what they needed to hit the ground running.
