Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas has praise striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Emmanuel-Adebayor-c12526, and has insisted that he has no intention of selling the player of loaning him out to another club, despite speculation claiming otherwise.
The Portuguese manager has hailed the Togolese forward as ‘one of the best strikers in the world’ and insists that he has no intention of allowing him to leave the club during the winter transfer window.
The striker spent last season on loan at the club from reigning English champions Manchester City. After scoring 17 goals in the league, the player immediately became a local favourite at the club, and became a priority for Villas-Boas, who himself arrived
at the club during the summer.
The Portuguese signed the Togolese on a permanent basis after considerable delays and complications with his transfer fee. Having moved to White Hart Lane, Adebayor however has not made a single start for the club.
The player has largely made appearances from the bench, but that was all due to his injuries and fitness problems. Having returned to the first team, the player is expected to start tonight against Maribor in the Europa League group stage game.
It is understood that Adebayor has been frustrated by his lack of playing time since his move, and is looking for a move away from the club in January. Villas-Boas however denies all such claims, and insists that the striker very much remains an important
part of his plans.
Speaking to reporters, the manager said:
“Adebayor is one of the greatest strikers in the world. There is no interest in selling him or loaning him in January. Unfortunately, it has not been working out for him this season because of injuries, but he is an important player.”
“At the moment, we start with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jermain-Defoe-c18359 in a system that has given us some rewards, but Ade’s chances will come.”
The player is expected to start tonight as Tottenham play hosts to Slovenian side Maribor in the Europa League. Speaking about the clash, Villas-Boas said:
"Even though a defeat against Maribor doesn't mathematically disqualify us, it is a game we have to win. We are in this competition to win it."
